Narcissism, commonly associated with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, is a personality disorder where one has an unwarranted sense of self-importance, self-admiration, a need for excessive validation, admiration from others, has a lack of self-awareness, and a lack of empathy.

Narcissism can also be interchangeable with egotism, but a narcissist is much more severe than an egotist, since narcissists need excessive validation and admiration from people. However, egotism is commonly associated with narcissists.

Narcissism and Internet Trolls[edit | edit source]

It is not uncommon for internet trolls to be narcissistic, since they crave attention and feel a need to get a reaction out of people by acting like an asshole to them, they love to put the blame on others when they provoke and harass the targets.

They are psychologically and emotionally abusive towards their targets, and they also love the play the victim whenever someone calls them out on their sadistic trolling habits.

Trolls are commonly very admirable of themselves (What they look like, how they sound), condescending and patronizing towards their targets so they can feel better about themselves and inflate their ego. They also love to praise and admire themselves for their trolling habits, then condescendingly spite the target by insulting him.

They are commonly lacking in self-awareness since they do not realize the damage they do, and instead put the blame on the target. Narcissistic trolls need to feel a sense of power over their targets, they may send a lynch mob of their friends after the target who did nothing wrong to them, so the narcissist feels better about themselves.
